Greetings, Members!
Were you at the DC Metro Chapter Product Show that was held on April 24th? I was and was very impressed with the number and variety of vendors who showed their products. I couldn't get to see everybody, although I tried to. The reps that I did speak with were also very happy with the attendance. This is a good sign that our show is growing in local prominence. It was only three years ago that the Chapter decided to resume its shows. The first one had only 8 reservations! Now we are around 30 and there was a waiting list. Can we do a 40 vendor show next year? I certainly think so. Some others who planned the show think so too. A very special thank you is extended to Ned Burns, who lead the committee, and Rob Moore, who jumped in and provided much needed assistance. Rich Freewalt also helped with coordination. If you see them, thank them, too.
Chapter elections occurred in April. Did you participate? I am happy to report that the slate of officers as nominated were elected. Congratulations to John Tomaszewski, President; Robert Moore, Second Vice President; Mark Velsey, Treasurer; Zoe Truby, Secretary; Richard Freewalt, Director, Professional 2011-12; and Howard Weiss, Director, Industry 2011-12. The position of First Vice President remains open. If asked to serve your Chapter, please consider it a professional honor.
I'm really looking forward to this month! I will be headed to the Philadelphia Convention Center from the 11th to the 14th to attend this year's CONSTRUCT Show and CSI Convention. I'm looking to catch-up with my many friends that I know from around the country. The education seminars promise to be informative, timely, and interesting. I'll be learning about new and improved products and systems on the Vendor Show floor. I am taking tours of Philly's City Hall and Waterworks. I'll be feasting on real Philadelphia cheese steaks. Will I meet you there? If you cannot attend for the entire week, the Show offers day plans and walking the Exhibit Hall is free. Philadelphia is such a short distance away, there's no reason NOT to come.
After convention, we will be holding our monthly meeting on the 18th. This month we host the NOVA chapter for our annual co-meeting. As Tuscana will not be able to accommodate us due to its size, we decided to return to the Crystal City Sports Pub in Arlington, VA. It's about a 10 minute walk from the Crystal City METRO Station via the Underground. Off-street parking is also available. Our speaker, from the Modular Building Institute will introduce us to the sustainable aspects of modular construction. It should be interesting. Don't forget to make your reservation by way of the chapter website, www.csidcmetro.org.
Don't forget our June Awards Meeting. Celebrate with your fellow colleagues the successes we experienced during the past year. You will be hearing about it toward the end of the month.
Your President,
Tom Feulner, Jr.
